
- 1 block of firm tofu
- 1 tbsp cornflour
- 1 tbsp plain flour
- pinch of salt
- 3 cloves of garlic, finely chopped
- 3 tbsp honey
- 1 tbsp treacle or muscovado sugar
- 1 tbsp tomato puree
- 1 tbsp white wine vinegar
- 1 tsp chopped chilli, or chilli flakes
- 1 tsp sesame seeds
- spring onion, finely chopped
- drain tofu, pat dry and cut into cubes
- add the cornflour, plain flour, salt and tofu to a large bowl and mix until tofu is covered
- gently fry the garlic and chilli over a low-medium heat. Turn the heat down when browned
- add the honey, treacle/muscavado sugar, tomato puree and vinegar and let it slowly simmer until thickened
- fry the coated tofu over a medium heat until browned
- when the sugar is ready, add the tofu and mix well
- serve with rice or noodles, sprinkle with the chopped spring onions and sesame seeds
