• 1 block of firm tofu
  • 1 tbsp cornflour
  • 1 tbsp plain flour
  • pinch of salt
  • 3 cloves of garlic, finely chopped
  • 3 tbsp honey
  • 1 tbsp treacle or muscovado sugar
  • 1 tbsp tomato puree
  • 1 tbsp white wine vinegar
  • 1 tsp chopped chilli, or chilli flakes
  • 1 tsp sesame seeds
  • spring onion, finely chopped
  1. drain tofu, pat dry and cut into cubes
  2. add the cornflour, plain flour, salt and tofu to a large bowl and mix until tofu is covered
  3. gently fry the garlic and chilli over a low-medium heat. Turn the heat down when browned
  4. add the honey, treacle/muscavado sugar, tomato puree and vinegar and let it slowly simmer until thickened
  5. fry the coated tofu over a medium heat until browned
  6. when the sugar is ready, add the tofu and mix well
  7. serve with rice or noodles, sprinkle with the chopped spring onions and sesame seeds
